A special thanks to all who entered the writing contest. It was a tough choice because they were all very good, but it was Joyce (Jean) Dawkins whose voice most closely echoed that of the Metamorphosis Movement. Thanks Jean for sharing your heart and how to make mountains move! Well done!

When Women Awaken, Mountains Move!
Many times as women, we do not understand the impact that we have on a situation, over our lives or our power to make a difference in the world. We have been taught to look pretty and be submissive. We have even been made to think that we are damsels in distress. In reality, we are sleeping giants! But sometimes we live as though someone has sprinkled some sort of stardust on us or given us the poisoned apple to lull us into complacency and into accepting all the world around us has to offer. A sleeping woman is someone not fully aware of her surroundings. A sleeping woman is not capable of making decisions or possessing the idea that could better her situation or understanding the complexities of life in general. A sleeping woman listens to someone else's opinions and recommendations. A sleeping woman is afraid to take a stand or follow her own intuition. A sleeping woman chooses to follow the corruptness of the world. A sleeping woman is slothful and procrastinates. A sleeping woman wants something for nothing. She would rather have it given to her than work for it herself. A sleeping woman believes that luck will find her rather than trying to open the door of opportunity for her self.
When a women awakens, she realizes that God has given each of us some of the same talents as our opposite gender only in a softer way. We have mental fortitude, and even physical strength when needed and we are able to move the stumbling blocks we call mountains out of the way.
In order to awaken, I believe that we have to stop following the way of the world and listen to what God is telling us to do. God has a special relationship with each of us, but it is up to us to nurture the relationship with him. We are creating our own mountains because we listen to what our little minds tell us to do instead of listening to the way God is directing us to go.
"Doubt Makes the Mountain that Faith can Move!"
Mountains are made of rock formations that occurred many years ago. Layers of rock are compounded together which makes it hard to drill through to the core of the earth. We create our own mountains when we refuse to let go of the past and are afraid to face the future. Therefore, it becomes harder for us to get to the core of our own lives and what has caused us to be asleep. We're afraid of leaving our past behind for fear that we can not make it to tomorrow. We are afraid to take off our night clothes (the past) and put on our cloaks of armor. We are afraid we lack the empowerment to overcome obstacles. Instead we think it's safer to bury our heads in the sand so that no one will notice us or the pain that we carry. It's then that we are creating the mountains of pain, fear, hurt, laziness, uncertainty, insecurity, dependency, procrastination, self esteem issues, morality issues, lost values, worthlessness, inability to get the lesson from our mistakes and the list can go on and on. If we as women can learn to understand the value of our contributions and the impact that we have on the world and life in general, there would be NO MOUNTAINS in our lives. Maybe molehills, but they can easily be moved out of the way, swatted like a mosquito and crushed like a piece of ice.
I am reminded of the children's fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty". She was a beautiful person and loved by all. Everyone and everything was touched by her beauty and kindness. But there was one person who wanted her out of the way, the wicked witch. It was because of evilness that Sleeping Beauty was put to sleep for many years. And it is because of our hurts, pains, and disappointments that women have fallen asleep. But one day a Prince came along and broke the spell and she lived happily ever after.
"For every mountain, there is a miracle!"
Many of us are like Sleeping Beauty, but we are waiting to be awakened from the sleep that the wrong doings of the world has cast upon us. But instead of waiting on a Prince, we need to give our attention and our hearts to God. We need to see ourselves the way God made us, strong and resilient, powerful beyond measure. Only God can truly awaken us from the sleep. He has already given us the power to move mountains and with his help we can conquer any obstacle set before us. With his help we can face brighter tomorrows. Only God can give us the strength we need from day to day. Put on your armor, stand victoriously on the battlefield. God has given you the victory to move the mountains out of our way!
